Carlo Acutis: A Millennial Saint in the Making

Teenage Computer Whiz Attributed with Two Miracles

His Memorial Day Will Be His Birthday, October 3

The Vatican announced this Thursday that Pope Francis has attributed two health miracles to Carlo Acutis, a 15-year-old Italian boy who died from cancer in 2006. Acutis, who is set to become the first millennial saint, is being recognized for his profound devotion to the Eucharist and his compassionate care for the poor. His memorial day will be his birthday, October 3.

One of the miracles attributed to Acutis involved the unexplained healing of a Brazilian boy suffering from a rare pancreatic disease. The other miracle involved the healing of a Polish man with a congenital heart defect.

Acutis's cause for canonization was opened in 2013, and he was declared venerable in 2018. In February 2020, Pope Francis recognized the first miracle attributed to Acutis, paving the way for his beatification.

Acutis's life story is an inspiration to young people around the world. He was a devout Catholic who used his computer skills to create websites and videos about his faith. He also volunteered at a soup kitchen and helped to care for people with disabilities.

Carlo Acutis's example shows us that it is possible to live a life of holiness, even in the digital age. He is a reminder that we are all called to use our talents and abilities to serve God and others.
