Dallas Mavericks Acquire Nerlens Noel in Trade

Break News

Noel had 16 points and 11 rebounds in a 117-111 loss to the Phoenix Suns on October 18, the Mavericks' season opener.

Five months after making trade demands, Center Nerlens Noel was traded by the Philadelphia 76ers to the Dallas Mavericks on October 8, 2017. In return, Philadelphia acquired a future first-round pick from the Mavericks.

Noel was unhappy with his role in Philadelphia, he started 50 games, but was relegated to a backup role behind the All-Star center Joel Embiid this past season. With the Mavericks, Noel is expected to play a significant role, and start alongside All-Star forward Harrison Barnes. The Mavericks are hoping that Noel can provide them with a much-needed defensive presence, something that they have lacked in recent years.

Noel has averaged 8.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game in his four-year career. He is a former first-round pick of the New Orleans Pelicans, who traded him to the Mavericks in 2014.
